Gray, TN — April is Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month (SAAPM), a time dedicated to raising public awareness about sexual violence and educating communities on how to prevent it. This month, Frontier Health is joining the nationwide effort to support survivors, advocate for prevention, and promote resources for those affected.
Sexual violence impacts people of all backgrounds and communities. According to the National Sexual Violence Resource Center, one in three women and one in four men experience some form of sexual violence in their lifetime. While these statistics are alarming, education, awareness, and advocacy efforts can lead to meaningful change.
Throughout April, Frontier Health will be highlighting SAAPM on our social media outlets. These efforts aim to empower individuals with knowledge, encourage open conversations, and promote a culture of consent and respect. The Frontier Health Safe House will participate in Denim Day, a campaign held during Sexual Assault Awareness Month to raise awareness and stand in solidarity with survivors. The movement began after the Italian Supreme Court overturned a rape conviction, arguing that because the victim wore tight jeans, she must have helped remove them, implying consent. Each year, we support Denim Day by wearing jeans, encouraging others to do the same, and sharing awareness on social media. This year, Denim Day falls on Wednesday, April 30, 2025.
