Phone of Positivity Wins TAMHO 2024 Outreach and Engagement Award

Frontier Health is proud to announce that the Tennessee Association of Mental Health Organizations (TAMHO) has recognized our innovative “Phone of Positivity” (POP) with the 2024 Outreach and Engagement Award. This prestigious award highlights exceptional efforts to connect with communities to promote mental health and well-being.

The Phone of Positivity was created to brighten spirits and share messages of encouragement while providing a critical safety net for those in need. By dialing 423-656-0720, callers are greeted by Tony, your cheerful Phone of Positivity Pal, who shares nine uplifting messages.

Importantly, if a caller feels distressed or is in crisis, they can press zero at any time to connect with the 988 Crisis Line for immediate support.

We are honored to receive this award and remain dedicated to innovative approaches that foster connection, positivity, and support for mental health in our communities.

Senior Director of Communications and Public Relations Joshua Moore accepted the award at this year’s TAMHO conference.

School-Based Therapist Leads Anti-Bullying Event in November

One of our dedicated school-based therapists took a creative and impactful approach to raising awareness about bullying during an anti-bullying event in November. The “Huskies Link Up to Stop Bullying” event encouraged students to take a stand against bullying through various engaging activities.

Students participated by signing an anti-bullying pledge on strips of paper, which were then linked together and displayed on the school wall as a powerful symbol of unity. Those who pledged received either an anti-bullying bracelet or a kindness sticker to show their support.

To further spread awareness, the therapist collaborated with the school’s Student News team for an interview about bullying. The school also shared updates and photos from the event on social media and included daily bullying awareness facts in their weekly announcements.

This initiative served as a meaningful reminder of the importance of kindness and respect within the school community. It showcased how small actions can lead to big changes in creating a safer environment for everyone.

Year End Benefit Reminders

Our benefits guru, Matt Griffith, has shared a few benefit reminders to keep in mind as the year comes to a close:

2025 Benefits: Benefits that you signed up for during Open Enrollment will go into effect on January 1, 2025. Be sure to review your deductions on your first paystub in January. If you believe there is a discrepancy, please notify Human Resources immediately.

Deductibles: Your deductibles, out of pocket maximums, and maximum benefit amounts will reset on January 1.

2024 Flexible Spending Account: If you have a balance in your FSA for 2024 funds, spend this money by the end of the year. Although there a grace period until mid-March, it is a good time to begin reviewing your eligible expenses through the year (such as doctors visits, prescriptions, eye glasses, etc), that you did not use your FSA for and requesting reimbursement through Fidelity.

*Pro Tip: If you have remaining funds in your FSA, but are not sure how to spend it, stock up on first aid supplies, over the counter medications, or splurge for prescription sunglasses. There are many items that you can use your FSA for and many retailers have these items clearly marked for your convenience.

Receive a Paperless 1095-C: You will receive a 1095-C (tax form regarding medical insurance) from Frontier Health. You can expedite receiving this form and skip the mail by signing up for electronic delivery.

Retirement Contribution Changes: Your retirement contribution percentage will not change unless you request a change. If you wish to make a change to your contribution amount prior to January, be sure to submit a Retirement 403B Form in Kronos by December 31. Be sure to press the submit button after signing a new retirement form. As a reminder, retirement contribution changes can be made throughout the year and will be effective beginning the next calendar quarter. Initial elections to start contributing to retirement can be made at any time.

Volunteers Make a Difference at Hunger First of the Tri-Cities

For over a year, individuals supported by our day services program have volunteered at Hunger First of the Tri-Cities, contributing their time and talent to this remarkable organization. Hunger First serves our community by providing food, clothing, furniture, and a unique Angel Tree program that delivers gifts to over 200 children during the holiday season.

Recently, our volunteers created stunning, one-of-a-kind artwork, including picture frames, home decor with inspirational sayings, and holiday-themed pieces. These creations were crafted with materials provided by Hunger First’s lead volunteer, showcasing the artistic talent and creativity of those we support.

To our surprise and honor, several of these pieces were selected for a fundraising auction organized by Hunger First to benefit their Christmas gift program. During the event, a heartfelt speech was delivered emphasizing the generosity and talent of our volunteers. The auction was a resounding success, raising $560 from six paintings and decorations—funds that directly provided Christmas gifts for needy children.

This experience was shared with our Day Service team, who celebrated the incredible impact of their contributions. We are deeply grateful to Hunger First for providing this opportunity and for their ongoing dedication to our community.

’Twas the Night Before Christmas, Turning Point Edition

’Twas the night before Christmas at Turning Point’s space,
Not a client was stirring, no tears on a face;
Their treatment plans safely in SmartCare did rest,
Awaiting compassion at this caring address.

The team all assembled, phones softly a-glow,
Each poised to assist if the distress line should flow;
Nurses, case managers, crisis stood near, while
CSRs and techs spreading comfort and cheer.
They offered their aid with attentive embrace,
Ensuring each client found a safe, trusted place.
With caring persistence, they answered each plea,
Soothing anxieties, setting minds free.

Then out in the hall there arose such a clatter,
All rushed with concern to see what was the matter.
United in purpose, they followed the sound,
At Turning Point, comfort and hope would be found.
The overhead lights cast a comforting glow,
On staff in alignment, compassion on show;
Within SmartCare’s records, each detail secure,
They nurtured each soul with intentions so pure.

No cry was too quiet, no worry too small,
This devoted team would attend to them all.
They listened, they validated each trembling tone,
Ensuring that no one would struggle alone.

They offered a lifeline, a warm guiding light,
A promise of calm to get through the night.
Steady and kind, their hearts never did tire,
From fear into hope, each soul they’d inspire.
As Christmas Eve deepened and quite returned,

Their unwavering efforts left no stone unturned.
They answered the calls, saw panic subside,
Within Turning Point, peace would safely reside.

And as the night softly stretched toward the morn,
They stayed with their calling, compassion reborn.
For though Christmas was near, their purpose was clear,
To hold and support those beset by fear.

So they spoke to each client, in voices so near,
“Your feelings are valued, we treasure you here.”
With kindness and patience, they offered their might,
“Warm holiday wishes, and to all a safe night.”

Merry Christmas
