A psychiatric rehabilitation program for people with mental, behavioral, or emotional illness that results in significant functional impairments in major life activities.
Independence House is a psychosocial rehabilitation program based on the Fountain House “Clubhouse” model. Independence House provides a safe place to help people address symptoms related to mental illness and/or addiction and to reach goals associated with symptom reduction, supports, employment and community living. Independence House works with outpatient services, case management, supported housing, peer support centers, employment services and psychiatric hospitals to help people make the most of the recovery process. Psychosocial Rehabilitation builds on people’s strengths and provides mutual support, along with professional support. People receive life skills training, community integration opportunities and social support.
